Eric Carle Collage - a dragon

Today in school I did a collage in the style of Eric Carle.  During winter break we went to the Eric Carle museum.  It was awesome!  One of my favorite parts was the big murals on the wall.  My other favorite part was the gallery where lots of his art was on display.
Me and Tyler at the Eric Carle Museum!
As an assignment in art we made painted tissue paper.  We could make them any colors we wanted by layering different colors of paint.  I was able to create different textures in the paint by using different paint tools, ribbon, and burlap.  Then we set the painted papers to dry.
In our next art class I made a collage of a dragon using the papers we painted.  Here is how I made my dragon.  First I drew my design on a blank sheet of paper.  Then I cut out all the pieces of the dragon that were going to be different colors of tissue.  This created a pattern.  I traced my pattern on to the tissue and cut them out.  Last I glued the tissue pieces down onto heavy art paper.
I really enjoyed this project because I like using the different colors and textures.  I also like cutting the pieces out from the colored tissue paper.

This was a fun project!
